Ingredient Notes

oatmeal in a glass mason jar next to a container of unsweetened almond milk and a cup of coffee

Old-Fashioned Rolled Oats: I like Bob’s Red Mill- these oats are gluten-free and delicious! You can find them at most grocery stores or online!

Unsweetened Almond Milk: I prefer the unsweetened original, but if you want extra vanilla flavor, try unsweetened vanilla!

Honey: You could also use monk fruit, or maple syrup, whichever you prefer.

Pure Vanilla Extract: This adds a delicious vanilla flavor to the blueberry overnight oats.

Sliced Almonds: I like the taste of sliced almonds toasted, so you can either buy them this way or toast them yourself.

Blueberries: You could use fresh or frozen blueberries. You could also do strawberries or blackberries.

Vanilla Protein Powder: Just one scoop will give you a ton of protein in these overnight oats with protein powder. Choose your favorite brand. You could also do collagen powder or chocolate protein powder if you prefer.

Recipe Step by Step

  1. In a pint-size (16 oz) mason jar (or another air-tight container), combine the oats, almond milk, protein powder, honey, and vanilla extract. Close with the lid and shake to combine. Refrigerate for 8 hours or up to 5 days.
  2. Eat cold, or warm it up. To heat: remove the metal lid and microwave for 2 minutes. Top with sliced almonds and blueberries, and enjoy.

Expert Tips

Oats: These protein overnight oats are best with old-fashioned rolled oats, they have the best chew. You could use instant oats, but they will get much softer.

Milk: I prefer almond milk, but you can use your preferred dairy-free or dairy milk. Same quantity.

Sweetener: I love using honey in this protein overnight oats recipe. You can also use maple syrup, agave nectar, coconut sugar, or regular sugar. About 1 teaspoon, or more to taste.

Freezing: You can freeze these blueberry overnight oats with protein powder for at least 6 months. If you’re using wide-mouth pint mason jars you can freeze directly in the jars. Thaw overnight in the refrigerator.
