Five Things for Friday
1. It rained yesterday morning! I woke up, and could smell that delicious “fresh rain” smell outside the window. After all this heat here in California, I couldn’t have been more excited. I celebrated by getting myself a pumpkin spice latte. Hello fall!
2. Everyday about 50 wild turkeys walk by our house, and hang out in our front yard and on our hill digging around for bird seed that has fallen from the bird feeders. It is so fun! I love our new feathered neighbors.
3. Along with wild turkeys stopping by, we have a ton of little birds hanging out on our bird feeders. We are going thru so much bird food, I can barely keep up! I bought a huge 50 pound bag of birdseed from Amazon. I think Shawn thought this huge bag was a little excessive. The birds need food too! Hopefully this bag will last us a while.
4. Shawn took me out for a little lunch date earlier in the week. If you want to get sushi, but not spend a ton of money on it, the best time to go is lunch time. We got these bento boxes for less than $15 each! Mmmm, I love sushi.
5. We’re going to Mexico for Christmas! Eeeee! It’s all booked, and I couldn’t be more excited! Feliz Navidad to us : )
It feels really official now, because yesterday I finally did all the paperwork to change my last name on my passport. It is the last place I hadn’t changed my name after getting married, and has seriously been on my to-do list for almost 2 years. Shawn renewed his too. Don’t be too jealous of our amazing passport photos, *wink*. I’m convinced it’s pretty impossible to take a good passport or drivers license picture. Haha!

Can I come to Mexico?! I promise I’m quiet and very well behaved. I promise that you will never know I’m around. ;) in all seriousness though … I am obsessed with those turkeys! Ha!
Natalie, I feel like I haven’t popped by in forever! I love these roundups to see what you’re up to! Those turkeys are pretty adorable and such a funny thing to have in the yard! I’ve never seen anything like that. Ha! I’m soooo jealous of 1) your sushi (I LOVE SUSHI!!!) and 2) your vacation! What a fabulous way to spend the holidays. Nice! :)
I want to live where you live! How FUN to see turkeys hanging outside every day!! And lucky you to be going to Mexico for Christmas this year. We love Mexico!! This year my family and I are headed to California for Christmas. I can’t wait!!! :)
Ahh, love your little turkey friends! So fun! And thanks for reminding me that I need to get my passport application in…I can’t believe I somehow let mine expire for more than a year and now I have to go through the full-on, much more involved process. Grr!
We have a family of turkeys that walk up our block all the time but what you have is pure craziness, so many, wow. I’m so excited that you guys are going to Mexico. Kurt and I love it there and this year we have already gone twice. :) Yay to the last name change.
Holy cow! That’s a whole lot of wild turkeys! So jealous you will be going to Mexico, but I can’t wait to see your awesome pictures :)
Hurray for rain! Hopefully fall weather will follow. I love all your feathered friends :-)
Yay for Mexico – you’re going to have an awesome time!! My passport photo and driver’s license photos are horrible – I get embarrassed any time I have to show them to anyone haha. Wow, can’t believe there are so many wild turkeys around your backyard – so cool!
Passport photos….. I have the worst one ever but, it does the job :) Loving that your off to Mexico, So So SOOoo want to get there one day.
Yay for getting to go to Mexico! I’m sure that’ll be a fun Christmas present. You totally just made me realize that my passport still has my maiden name on it too. Hahaha! Thanks for the reminder, I need to take care of that soon.
By the way, I sent you an e-mail! Have a great weekend, Natalie!
Wait what part of California are you in where you got rain?!?! You are in the Northern part right? Lucky duck! Still drought-ridden down in LA, super lame. And how good do those Bento boxes look??? That’s one of my favorite things to get because I love the selection of delicious food so nicely arranged. I might have to seek out a Bento Box for lunch today! Have a great weekend!
Mexico! What fun! Those wild turkeys are amazing! I can’t believe they all congregate like that in your yard.
My husband is a big turkey hunter and he is sitting next to me…this definitely got his attention. Men! Ha!
feliz navidad indeed! I always think it’s weird to be someplace warm for christmas, but then you forget about it when you are lying on the warm sand soaking up the sun :) how fun! and I’m seriously jealous of your bento box. Sushi here is way expensive and not even that good.
Woah, that is a lot of turkeys! A vacation to Mexico sounds amazing! I still haven’t decided where we are going around Christmas, but a warm place sounds good.
Mexico at Christmas sounds lovely! Can’t wait to see the pictures.
The turkeys coming to visit are awesome. Maybe you won’t have to buy a Thanksgiving turkey this year. ;-)
Have a splendid weekend!
I was just about to say ‘what are those turkeys eating?’ and then I saw the big bag of food … tee heee heeee!
Have a great weekend, Natalie!
Hahaha passport pics are funny aren’t they? I look like a murderer in mine because they told me not to smile. Did they tell you not to smile? Cause Shawn has a smirk! Awesome you will be in MExico for Christmas!!!! I have never spent Christmas in a warm place. Pretty sure it’s always included snow ;) Do you ever go somewhere cold for Christmas! It will be here before we know it, huh? Sushi for lunch to save money is a GREAT tip! Ugh, want sushi today :P That bird seed is a lot lol!! Love 5 things Friday :D Have a fab weekend Natalie!!
I’m addicted to pumpkin spice lattes, although I’ve only gotten one so far! I’m trying to spread it out! :) And that’s so exciting that you’re going to Mexico…Christmas really isn’t too far away. And I totally agree, I can never take a good driver’s license picture, either! Have a great weekend, Natalie!
Eeee! Mexico?! SO exciting! Take me with you? Please? LOL. And that is so cool that you have wild turkeys hanging out at your place and kinda funny that they were eating the bird food. Hahaha! Have a great weekend, Nat!
