Homemade Honey Butter
For the times when plain butter isn’t enough, there’s honey butter.
I wasn’t born in the south, but sometimes I feel like I would fit in just fine down there. They have a way of taking food to the next level. Do you like twinkies? Well what about deep fried twinkies? Would you like a hot dog, it’s wrapped in bacon and topped with cheese? And any time my meal is so slathered in BBQ sauce that a handful of wet naps is brought out with it is a winner in my book. And with the huge platters of ribs they serve, wet naps are very necessary.
My mom is from Kansas, and we eat the best food when we go back there and visit. The iced tea is extra sweet, and so is the butter. One barbecue restaurant we visit serves delicious homemade rolls, cornbread and biscuits along with a big bowl of honey butter. It makes those baked goods even better. I’m a huge fan of salty and sweet, so honey butter was made for me. It’s only 2 ingredients, honey and butter (duh) and is great on just about any carb you can think of.
An extremely simple honey butter recipe that will convince you that southern cooking is definitely on to something. Honey + butter = love.

Yes yes yes! Love honey butter! I want to slather it on anything and everything!
Whaaaaaaat. YES. Homemade honey butter sounds amazing, and I love how easy it is to make.
Oooooh boy! I’ve never had honey butter but I think that needs to change, immediately. I bet the salty-sweet combination tastes SO good. I had my first experience with southern cooking (or really, southern eating) recently and am I a fan or what! Looking forward to adding this butter to the list.
Yum, I love the sound of honey butter – I’m such a sucker for sweet and salty too. I can imagine how good this would taste slathered on a warm biscuit – or like you said any carb you can think of :)
Natalie I am so glad you posted this. Last summer we went to a small farmers market and I tried honey butter for the first time. I love the stuff. Now I’m craving corn muffins with honey butter.
We drink sweet tea in the south. ;)
Natalie, your honey butter tastes and sounds amazing.
I imagine this with a nice muffin and a cup of coffee- soo good :)

Holy heck yes for honey butter! And I hear ya on putting it on nearly every carb I can think of. I am a totally sucker for salty-sweet combos, and I pretty much have no willpower when it comes to them. :) This version looks wonderful!
I’m pretty sure the fact that I am drooling at butter means my Wedding diet is never really ever going to start!! lol dying to slather this all over a muffin, looks awesome!!
This is beyond amazing!! I wonder how come I never thought of combining two of my fave flavors! Pinned!
This looks like heaven! I have made maple butter but never honey butter. I’m thinking this would go well with just about anything!
I’d never thought of combining honey and butter this way but it sounds soooo good. I’ll definitely have to try this out!
Oh my goodness – I totally agree, Natalie. Southerners have a way of taking everything to the next level. I like to joke that I’m southern at heart… I mean, people who invent honey butter?? Who wouldn’t want to be a part of such a genius group :)? It’s amazing that something so simple can be so good! Love all of your pics – as always!
Awesome, Natalie! Flavored butter is the best! Have you ever had the butter at Texas Roadhouse?! I made a copy cat version at Thanksgiving with the dinner rolls last year. OMG, to die for. I think the only difference is cinnamon. Anyways, thank you for the lovely recipe, and reminder to spruce up plain jane butter :)
Simple and delicious . . . you really can’t go wrong!
YUM! I love all flavored butters, they are sooooo good!
Honey butter is the BEST!!!!! Somehow I only discovered it last year (!!!), but definitely better late than never :)
Natalie, your honey butter looks seriously amazing. I can only imagine how blissful this butter would be slathered on some warm homemade biscuits! And P.S—I love your little white spoon—Adorbs!
