What Makes This Recipe Great
Sorry for yelling at your eyes, but… THIS IS THE BEST RANCH DRESSING YOU WILL EVER HAVE!
I promise you this is not an exaggeration. As a total ranch snob, I have tasted and tested many ranch recipes that are just not up to par. So I set out to make a cool, classic, creamy ranch that doubles as a keto salad dressing but doesn’t sacrifice any of the flavors of the beloved ranch we know.
The result? Hands down the best ranch dressing ever! Use it for wings, salads, casseroles, pizza, veggies, and more! Bonus? It is so healthy! This homemade keto ranch dressing is also Whole30, Paleo, and Dairy free.

Ingredient Notes
You probably have everything you need in your kitchen right now to make this super simple keto ranch dressing.
Mayo: You are essentially making a mayo base in this recipe. You can use your favorite storebought mayo or follow my instructions below to make homemade keto mayonnaise that takes just 3 minutes and is out of this world yummy!
Almond Milk: I like to use almond milk in this keto salad dressing recipe, and if you want to make your own, my recipe for easy homemade almond milk is another delicious option!
Lemon Juice: Freshly squeezed lemon juice works best in this recipe to keep it super fresh and bright.
Dried Herbs & Spices: If fresh herbs are your thing, you can of course use fresh herbs for this keto salad dressing. I prefer using dried herbs because I don’t always have all the fresh herbs I need on hand.
Recipe Step by Step
- In a wide mouth pint size mason jar, add the avocado oil, egg, lemon juice, dijon mustard, and all the dried spices.
- Add in your immersion blender, pressing it all the way to the bottom and trapping the egg yolk underneath it.
- Turn the immersion blender on high speed, leaving it at the bottom for a full 30 seconds. Then, slowly bring it up as the egg and oil emulsify. (You’re essentially making a ranch mayonnaise).
- Pour in 1/4 cup dairy-free milk (or more to thin to desired consistency). Stir it in with a spoon, or add the immersion blender back in to mix it.
- Refrigerate for 1 hour before serving so the ranch has time to marinate all the herb flavors. But I’ve eaten this right away before and it’s still good. It just gets better the longer it’s refrigerated!
Expert Tips
Store Bought Mayo: If you don’t have a mason jar and immersion blender, you can make this using store-bought mayo. Substitute the avocado oil and egg with 1 cup store bought mayo. But honestly, it tastes so much better making it all fresh.
Milk: To keep this keto salad dressing dairy free, I like using unsweetened almond milk or original flavor Nutpods. Coconut milk works, but I find it gives it the slightest coconut taste. If you’re ok with dairy, you could use heavy cream or whole milk.
Eating Raw Egg: It’s totally safe, especially with quality eggs. They sell pasteurized (Pasteurized means they cook to the point of killing germs) eggs in stores, or you can pasteurize yourself by simmering at a low temp. But it makes it taste more “eggy”.

Hi!! Is there anything else i can use besides almond milk?! I’m allergic! 😭😭😭 soo sad
You could substitute any unsweetened plant based milk you would like, and I am sure the ranch dressing would turn out great Alicia! I sure hope you like it!
This is legit the only whole30 ranch recipe I’ve actually loved and I’ve tried many. You are right on the money with this recipe 💕
I am so glad you like my ranch dressing Taylor! Even better that you have tried several recipes. It sure took a lot of recipe testing to get the taste just right!

Wow! Thank you so much for your very nice comment Ashely! I love sharing my recipes and when they are well received it makes it all worthwhile! I am so happy you and your family enjoy them. I am thrilled you like my ranch dressing. Isn’t it yummy?
Wow! This is amazing! Even my 10 year old, who generally favors a store bought Ranch (which I infrequently buy because of disfavored ingredients), loved this! This doesn’t at all feel like “settling.” Our new favorite Ranch! I’m going to keep some in the fridge at all times, along with your mayo. Thank you for creating great recipes!
I am so happy you liked my ranch dressing Ana! Even better that your 10 year old liked it! That is a win, win! Isn’t it wonderful to find a healthy recipe that you enjoy and don’t feel like you are settling? I am so glad you will keep this ready made in your fridge. Enjoy!
This looks so delish! I don’t have an immersion blender, can I just put it in my regular blender?
I haven’t recipe tested the ranch dressing in a blender, but I am pretty sure it would work just fine Rebecca. I sure hope you like it!
Hi there,
Just wondering whether I could use coconut milk instead of almond for this? Almond milk affects my gut something terrible, but I really really really want some ranch dressing.
Thanks :)
Although I haven’t recipe tested it I think coconut milk would work great for my ranch dressing Cheryl. Coconut milk has a different taste than almond milk, so that would be the only difference. Pretty much I think you could sub out any plant based milk or dairy product and the recipe would work just fine.
This ranch is incredible! I used store-bought mayo (Sir Kensington’s) and apple cider vinegar instead of lemon juice, and it turned out great! I might add a little less salt next time- maybe it was the store-bought mayo or ACV that made it a tad saltier than I prefer, but still delicious. So glad to have this recipe in my collection now :)
I am so glad you liked my homemade ranch dressing Sarah! I am thrilled you liked it enough to make it again. I really appreciate the feedback.
Hi, I was wondering what is the net carbs for that serving you posted? Thank you!!!
Thanks for the question. The carbs in my ranch dressing is 1.8 g per 2 tablespoons. I’m not sure if you are referring to the serving on the salad in the video, but I would guess that is about 2 tablespoons, but I did not measure. Hope this helps.
How much mayo is one batch?
Hi Michele! This recipe calls for 1 batch of homemade mayo which yields 1 1/2 cups. This recipe yields 1 3/4 cups. Here is a link to my homemade mayo recipe: https://www.tasteslovely.com/easiest-3-minute-homemade-mayonnaise/
Love love this recipe. I have shared it with many of my friends and they too have made it. I use it for a recipe for a Chicken Bacon Ranch Spaghetti Squash Casserole (from JustjessieB.com). Yummo!!!
So glad you liked this and shared it with your friends! That just makes my day! Uh, Chicken Bacon Ranch Spaghetti Squash Casserole? Yes please, that sounds delicious!
My husband and older daughter are obsessed with this dressing… Of course I love it as well
This is delicious! I have made it numerous times now both with homemade mayo and store bought avocado mayo and it is delicious no matter what! I also mix this with the Chimichurri sauce and it is glorious.
I am so pleased that you like this! What a great tip to mix it with chimichurri sauce. Yum!
Obsessed. No other word.
Courtney I have to agree with you, I too am OBSESSED with this ranch dressing!
Yes! this is an amazing dressing. Thank you for sharing this recipe.
Yea! Thank you so much Carley! I’m happy to hear you liked it!
Made and love it! It’s truly the best Ranch dressing I’ve ever eaten. I had to give Ranch dressing up after needing to give up milk products. This is no substitute. It is truly superior to anything I’ve had before. The flavor is so clean and so fresh. Thanks for all the good work you do to bring to us wonderful and healthy food!
Thank you SO MUCH Francine! That means a lot! I’m the same way, I love this so much more than any ranch I had before. Thank you for taking the time to share such kindness with me!
I use Primal Kitchen mayo. How much mayo would that be in your recipe? Thanks so much.
About 1.5 cups!
This is by far the best Ranch I have ever had in my life! I had given up on ranch with all of the artificial ingredients and MSG added in the powdered version. I will never use another recipe. Thank you so much for this gem!
I am so glad you loved it Ashley! Isn’t it horrifying how many awful, fake ingredients are in the powdered version? Can’t believe I ate it for so long. This version is much better, and healthier. Thanks for taking the time to let me know you liked my recipe, you made my day!
Hey Natalie fun seeing you. I think I knew you were doing a blog. Happy 4th with your family. Carol P.
