Why Track Macros on Keto?
The goal of Keto is to eat a high fat, moderate protein, low carb diet to get your body into ketosis. Once in ketosis, your body burns fat for fuel rather than carbs. Perfect for weight loss.
What Macro Percentages Do I Aim For?
I personally aim for 70% of my calories to come from fat, 20% to come from protein and 10% to come from carbs.

How Do I Track Daily Keto Macros?
There are tons of ways to track your macros, but I found the easiest way was using My Fitness Pal. You can do it on your desktop or phone app.

Do I Track Your Macros Every Day?
No. Not anymore for macros, calories or ketones. I did for the first 2 weeks, and now I do my best guess. I don’t worry about the total number of calories at all.
I tracked every single morsel of food I was eating in the beginning, but it is so unbelievably time consuming. I found myself wanting to avoid food simply because I didn’t want to go to the effort of tracking the macros for it. Not healthy! After tracking all my meals for 2 weeks, I got the general feel to be able to guess at the percentages of fat, proteins + carbs.
I’ve never tracked my ketones, but have heard that this blood test one is much more reliable and accurate than the urine test strips.
