Strawberry & Banana Green Smoothie
Made a super healthy green smoothie for ya.
I’m not Irish, and I’m not a fan of corned beef and cabbage, so St. Patrick’s Day can get a bit lost on me. Probably because I worked at a British Pub through college, and since there were no Irish Pub’s in town a British one was the next best thing. Every year on that night we would be PACKED! Serving up plate fulls of corned beef and boiled cabbage and pitchers of green beer. Soon everyone’s mouth was dyed green from all the beer they were drinking, and a few of the more tipsy customers would spill this dyed green beer all over me. I was sure to wear my least favorite jeans that night.
So while I won’t be drinking green beer this year, but I will definitely be drinking this green smoothie. No dye necessary! This is my favorite, go to smoothie that I make every weekend along with a piece of peanut butter toast. It’s just 4 ingredients, banana, frozen strawberries, OJ and as much spinach as you can possibly cram in your blender.
Speaking of blenders, I got a NutriBullet for my birthday, and ohmygosh do I love it! It is a-mazing. This isn’t even a paid sponsorship, I am just obsessed with it and thought I would share. It takes up hardly any space on the kitchen counter, and comes with different sized cups for you to make your smoothie, juice or shake in. Then you just screw on the blades, let it blend, and drink it right out of the same cup. Easy clean up, and it blends everything evenly and easily. I use it to make salad dressings too. My regular blender is now permanently stored in the cabinet, and this little blender has been used almost everyday. Love love love.

I’m not a big fan of corned beef either, so I’d go for this lovely green smoothie anytime! It looks so so yummy – what a perfect breakfast! xx
Love green smoothies- so energising!
Natalie this smoothie looks delicious. I love a thick smoothie and this is a favorite combination. I’m all for St. Patrick’s day if it means having more greens :D
Strawberry banana is my favorite kind if green smoothie. I love how you don’t even taste the spinach! Have a great weekend!
Yum, love green smoothies and your strawberry banana version looks delicious Natalie! The Nutribullet sounds awesome, my blender is has been acting wonky ever since December and I have been debating on which one to get and I’m glad to hear that you love this one so far :)
I find it really hard to get my head around the idea of a spinach smoothie, but I can imagine how great this tastes with the strawberries and orange juice in. Not at all spinach-y, but still with all the goodness. Genius! I’m not a smoothie drinker, but maybe I need to change that!
I’ve been on a spinach kick lately and I love it in a green smoothie! I’m not a big fan of St. Patty’s day because I’m not Irish and I’ve never really celebrated it. But I will always love a green smoothie :)
OH MY GOSH. So my mom got a nutribullet and I am in amazement! It blends everything PERFECTLY!! I need one. This smoothie looks so yummy Natalie!
Why don’t I drink more green smoothies?? It’s like I’m living in 2005 or something.
Also, spilling green beer all over you?? Worst job ever! Beer already sounds pretty gross, but dying it green? Yikes. I’ll take this smoothie instead, please :)
Can’t think of a better time to post a green smoothie than now. So happy you used a NutriBullet – I’ve been wanting to get one for quite some time now, but wasn’t sure how different it would be from a regular blender. I think you may have convinced me to finally get one!
I am not a huge fan of most foods that are traditional for Saint Patty’s Day either – the green dye freaks me out a bit, ha!
I so need to get that blender! I have a nice big one but I hate to drag it out for small stuff. Strawberry/banana is my favorite smoothie flavor…now I just need to add spinach!
At first I was like….WHAT you don’t like corn beef and cabbage. But thats a solid explanation, i’ll let it slide ;) haha this smoothie looks lovely and not overcomplicated by any means. It does however make me wonder why I don’t have a good blender like this one. Looks like it works well! Thanks for sharing, Natalie!
What a pretty green smoothie! Sometimes they look so blah, you know? Yours is a pretty shade of green and sounds delicious!
I don’t do green beer either, but I do love my smoothies! I’ve never tried a spinach smoothie before though but this surely looks delicious. I haven’t bought a new blender yet so I’ve got to take a closer look at the nutribullet. Thanks for sharing your thoughts on it. I love hearing about people’s reviews on kitchen products.
You should try some spinach. You don’t taste it at all, but it adds in a ton of vitamins and minerals. And definitely look into the NutriBullet if you’re in the market for a blender. They’re super cheap at Costco : )
Oh, hey, green smoothie. You sure are pretty! :) So glad you are loving the NutriBullet. I am >this< close to getting one. Love that it hardly takes up any counter space and that it's a breeze to use. I'd probably turn all my meals into smoothies if I had it!
I'm 0% Irish, so I'm a bit of the same way. When we lived in Manhattan, KS, they had Fake Patty's Day. Since the K-State students were always on spring break during Patty's Day, they celebrated the weekend before. Aggieville (the bar district) was nuts. Bars would open super early in the morning to serve green eggs and ham. And, of course, the green beer was flowing all.day.long. You could even watch the craziness online from the street cams they set up. There were always lots of moments that would make any parent proud. Haha!
I *highly* recommend the NutriBullet Ashley. Do you guys live near a Costco? You get the whole set for only like $80. I bet the boys would love building smoothies in their own cups.
My mom is from Lawrence, KS! I know Manhattan, KS. Small world. They did the whole “bars open at 6am” where I went to college. Gross! People would be wasted by breakfast time. I’ll pass. That’s amazing they set up street cams. I’ll watch the craziness from afar. Haha!
It is a small world! Lawrence is a great town…but don’t tell my K-State friends I said that. There’s a big Jayhawks/Wildcats rivalry in that state. :)
I am definitely going to check out Costco. You’re right, the boys would be allllllll about making smoothies in their own cups!
Looks like the bullet does a good job with spinach, the blender I have does not do so well with leafy things, which is kind of the whole point. Beautiful smoothie!
It does a great job with spinach, really pulverizes it. It actually does a much better job than my Kitchen Aid blender. And was about half the price. I love it.
I am a smoothie addict. I have one every morning and this combo is one of my most favorite. I also love adding half of an avocado for extra health benefits. My skin and hair seem to love it too. Glad you love your NutriBullet, it’s essential to have a great blender especially when it comes to making smoothies. What’s in a green beer?
I’m quickly becoming the smoothie queen. I’m making them constantly now for breakfast. I’ve never tried adding avocado to a smoothie before. I’m going to have to give it a try. I bet the oils do wonders for your hair and skin. You make green beer by adding green food coloring. All the bartenders have stained green fingers by the end of the night, and you can tell who has had a few too many beers because their teeth, tongue and lips are dark green. haha!
Yum! Never met a green smoothie I didn’t like :) Love the strawberry-banana combo going on here!
I love your new blender! It looks VERY heavy-duty and seriously into smoothies! LOL. This smoothie looks soo amazing and I love the combo of bananas, strawberries, and of course spinach! I really need to get on board with the whole “green smoothie” thing, since I’ve never even TRIED a green smoothie.
I have all the ingredients to make this smoothie, so yeah, it’s so happening here soon! :D
I’m obsessed with my NutriBullet. I could be one of those people on an infomercial telling you how much I love it, haha! You should try adding spinach to your smoothie. It’s weird because you do not taste it AT ALL, but it adds a ton of vitamins and minerals to your smoothie. Be sure to check your teeth after drinking it to see if you have any green specs, haha!
I think incorporating fruit into a fruit smoothie is essential. I usually add bananas to help sweeten it up a bit. This smoothie looks so refreshing and I’m sure it tastes even better!
