Five Things for Friday
1. Shawn and I have a new sister-in-law! Shawn’s brother Sheldon got married to his new wife Berleen on Saturday in wine country here in California. {Photo courtesy of Jennifer Bagwell Photography}
I was a bridesmaid (I’m on the far left, Shawn’s sister Jacquie was a bridesmaid too, she’s on the far right) and Shawn was a best man.
2. Along with being in the wedding, we also filmed the wedding! We’re crazy ambitious like that. The only super tricky part was the ceremony, since we couldn’t check on the camera’s at all. Shawn set everything up before the wedding on tripods, and 2 of his cousins babysat the cameras for us to move them and keep them in focus, and my sister helped film all the portraits and speeches. LIFESAVERS! Couldn’t have done it without them!
Shawn was extra smart and snuck a GoPro into his pocket so he could get a straight on shot of the bride walking down the aisle. I didn’t even notice! His response?
“I know! *cleverly smiles* Everyone was looking at the bride, I knew no one would notice it.”
Funnily enough, his uncle snapped this picture of him holding it, so at least 1 person noticed, ha!
Shawn and I were running around so much that night, I totally forgot to take a picture of the 2 of us together. Thank goodness his cousin Ashley and her husband Bryan (the same cousins who babysat the cameras during the ceremony, love you Ash & B!) snapped this picture with us.
3. The wedding festivities all started on Thursday at the rehearsal dinner. Shawn and I played cornhole with Ashley and Bryan, and the girls won! That never happens! Well, to be fair, we were winning, but then Ashley and I got hot and bored, and ended the game. But it still counts!
4. When we got back from the rehearsal dinner, I went to take a shower and saw THIS spider waiting for me in the bathtub. (warning, scary, only click if you are brave, and there is a corner of Shawn’s credit card in the picture for scale, but that didn’t work since I had to crop it heavily so his credit card number wasn’t in the picture, ha!) If you were nearby and heard me scream, you would think I was being murdered. Not exaggerating, over 2″ across. It was huge!
5. After seeing Annie’s post for a blueberry and blackberry crisp yesterday, I got the craving for baking something summery. So I did a little baking yesterday after work! This is a big deal, because I rarely bake anything unless it’s a holiday or birthday. I swapped in peaches instead, and had all the other ingredients on hand. It was delicious!
Even better? The look on Shawn’s face when he walked thru the door and saw this crisp cooling in the window. I thought he was going to propose to me all over again! I should really bake for that fella more often.

Everyone looks so beautiful, congrats on getting a new sister-in-law :-) I am super impressed that you guys still managed to film the wedding! ..And yes I did click on that spider picture and holy cow if I saw that thing I would have passed out. That sucker is HUGE.
You look so pretty! Love your hair/make up, and that’s a fab bridesmaid dress! I’m a total sucker for the one-shoulder look. And too funny about Shawn and the GoPro. That’s a genius idea! And gahh that crisp looks awesome! Hope you have a great weekend! :)
Natalie!! You are looking gorgeous & What a beautiful marriage. Everyone looks so so happy… btw the crisp looks delicious.. :)
I just love weddings. Everyone looks so happy. I love that Shawn held that go-pro, so smart! I’m too shaky to be able to do something like that. I’d end up making everyone sick. Haha
Hope you have a great weekend!
You look so gorgeous Natalie! Everyone looks so happy in the pictures, it’s adorable!
This was such a fun post to read, Natalie! I LOVED all those gorgeous wedding photos—you all look awesome! And good lord! That is a HUGE spider. SCARY STUFF. And oh my gosh, Annie’s crisp has been on my mind all day. Love your twist with the peaches! :)
What a cool post, Nat! I always have lots of fun reading it. It is awesome to know every friday how was a little bit your week.
Lovely pictures! You were GORGEOUS at the wedding! Sounds like you had fun. I love your bridesmaid dress! I wish you a great weekend ;-)
You look beautiful Natalie and these are such great pictures. Looks like you had a fabulous time and the color of the bridesmaid dress looks fabulous on you.
That is ambitious of you to be in the wedding and film it at the same time. Great idea on the GoPro though :)
Wow! Congrats on your new family member. The photos are just gorgeous. YOU look gorgeous. The hubby looks very dapper. Everyone always looks so happy at a wedding -it’s infectious! That was rather ambitious of you guys to be part of the wedding party AND do the filming. Not sure how you did it because wedding party duties really take over! Sounds like an awesome time. And in wine country? Swoon.
Your crisp looks insanely good. Peach and blueberries are best buddies, especially warm. Mmmm. I saw that recipe too, and was totally drawn to it! I hope you have a marvellous weekend, Natalie. I always love reading these posts (I think I’m nosey) :)
You are so beautiful, Nat!
Y’all are such a striking couple — I mean, really. You look fabulous! Looks like an all-around awesome time, and so smart with the GoPro. Can’t believe you were IN the wedding and working at the wedding . . . ambitious for sure. But sounds like you have it all on lock!
Oh, and I totally did not look at that spider picture. Creepy things cannot be unseen.
Cracks me up how sneaky Shawn is with the filming. You guys are just rockin’ it! When Bradley Cooper and I get married ;) I’m totally letting you guys film it!
Beautiful wedding! And the two of you are rockstars with your filming. I love the pic of Shawn with the camera! Your peach crisp looks incredible!
What a beautiful wedding!! They look so happy! And I love the bridesmaid dresses! I am so glad you made the crisp, aren’t they SO GOOD? I don’t know why I don’t make them like every single day?! Thank you for sharing!! :)
No sera demasiado??
umm your hair/make-up game was INCREDIBLE at the wedding, loving your look!!!! and whatever, quitting while you’re ahead totally counts as a legit win in my book :) sounds like a lovely weekend had by everyone! xx
OMG! That spider is disgusting, nice putting the credit card for a bit of perspective on size!! Poor girl to see that in the shower! I would have had a bloody awful scream too!! You looked BEAutiful at the wedding! I like the color of the dress, and how it’s shear on top ;) Funny that Shawn pulled out the GOpro – good thinking no one would notice and I bet it was an excellent angle that they will totally appreciate! Such thought you two have when making your videos. It’s really awesome Natalie!
That crisp looks bomb, i’m SO all about fruit desserts in Summer, obviously :D
Sounds like you had a busy weekend girl! Weddings are so fun. Ambitious indeed. :)
You look gorgeous! Love all the pics.
Hope you have a great weekend!
You look beautiful! I’ve performed at weddings where I’ve also been a bridesmaid, and it was a lot to deal with! I can’t imagine being in the wedding and shooting it! You guys are ambitious! And that spider is super scary. Yuck!
Sounds like you had a great time at the wedding, Natalie! Gorgeous pictures, and I love your bridesmaid dress! And yikes…I so would have freaked out if I saw that spider! I don’t think I’ve ever seen one that big near me (yet)! And your crisp looks delicious. Annie inspired me to make some too, so that might be a project for me this weekend. Have a great Friday!
