Homemade Honey Butter
For the times when plain butter isn’t enough, there’s honey butter.
I wasn’t born in the south, but sometimes I feel like I would fit in just fine down there. They have a way of taking food to the next level. Do you like twinkies? Well what about deep fried twinkies? Would you like a hot dog, it’s wrapped in bacon and topped with cheese? And any time my meal is so slathered in BBQ sauce that a handful of wet naps is brought out with it is a winner in my book. And with the huge platters of ribs they serve, wet naps are very necessary.
My mom is from Kansas, and we eat the best food when we go back there and visit. The iced tea is extra sweet, and so is the butter. One barbecue restaurant we visit serves delicious homemade rolls, cornbread and biscuits along with a big bowl of honey butter. It makes those baked goods even better. I’m a huge fan of salty and sweet, so honey butter was made for me. It’s only 2 ingredients, honey and butter (duh) and is great on just about any carb you can think of.
An extremely simple honey butter recipe that will convince you that southern cooking is definitely on to something. Honey + butter = love.

I’ve read a few posts here and I can actually relate. I am in love with Marie Callender’s cornbread. They are simple to make and super yummy, especially with honey butter. I’ve been a fan of MC’s ever since I was a little girl, and have fond memories of eating it with my family back in San Jose, CA. Check out their website www.mccornbread.com to order your cornbread mix. They also stock a variety of gourmet products I’m sure you will enjoy.

One of my favorite things in the world is a warm corn bread muffin slathered with honey butter. Yum! I love honey butter and will be making this for sure! Thanks for sharing :)
Hey, this looks good, which I know it is as my mom used to make it when I was a kid. I love compound butters! :)

I love honey butter on a good biscuit or cornbread. I agree-sometimes I feel like I would fit in perfectly in the South. I love butter and the stick to your ribs comfort food!
Never seen honey butter before, Natalie, but it’s a fabulous idea! In Greece it’s common to find cheese served with honey, so why not butter? Delicious!
Southern food is the best. I love honey butter slathered on cornbread or biscuits. We used to go to a Mexican restaurant growing up that served honey butter with warm tortillas – SO good! Your honey butter looks gorgeous! Yes, butter can be gorgeous :)
I could definitely live in a place where the butter is always sweet :) but deep fried Twinkies and bacon wrapped hot dogs? Umm…maybe not ;) Cannot wait to make this the next time I whip up some fresh dinner rolls!
