Oh how I love chicken drumsticks + wings! If you think you don’t like dark meat, you’re wrong. You’ve got to try these whole30 + keto crispy roasted chicken drumsticks + wings. You will be a dark meat convert!

Every week, I break down 3 whole chickens that I get from ButcherBox (my favorite organic, hormone + antibiotic free chicken). I love the variety of using every cut of chicken. And I use the carcass to make homemade bone broth so no part of the chicken goes to waste. Very best value!

2 nights a week have chicken breast dinners, 1 night a week we have a chicken thigh dinner, and 1 night a week we have drumsticks + wings. I sure do look forward to drumstick + wing night!

Whole30 + Keto Crispy Roasted Chicken Drumsticks + Wings

The most common way I cook the drumsticks and wings is to roast them in the oven until crispy and golden brown. It’s so much easier than you think! And by using this rimmed baking sheet that comes with a wire rack, they come out perfect every time!

To keep it interesting, I change up the seasoning I use on the drumsticks. Some favorites are simple salt + pepper. My cajun seasoning. Jerk seasoning. Lemon pepper. Old bay. Or sometimes I’ll slather them with a delicious sauce like my chimichurri or pesto after their done cooking.

The possibilities are endless!

2 pounds chicken drumsticks + wings*

salt + pepper

Or, your favorite dry rub: jerk seasoning, cajun seasoning, etc


Preheat your oven to 425ºF. Line a rimmed baking sheet with parchment paper and set in the wire rack. (The wire rack is important to ensure air circulates around the chicken and the skin gets crispy!)

Season your drumsticks + wings generously with salt + pepper, or your favorite dry rub.

Place the chicken on the wire rack. Roast for 30 minutes, flip, then roast another 15-20 minutes until crispy and golden brown.

Serve warm. Leftovers will keep in an airtight container for at least 5 days.
