Whole30 + Keto Sesame Chicken Green Bean Stir Fry
Whole30 + Keto Sesame Chicken Green Bean Stir Fry Recipe – a quick and delicious dinner or lunch meal prep! Easy homemade stir fry sauce recipe. Gluten free, grain free, dairy free, refined sugar free, clean eating, real food.
I make a stir fry dinner at least once a week. They’re quick and delicious, and my favorite way to use up leftover vegetables that are still in the fridge at the end of the week.
This whole30 + keto sesame chicken green bean stir fry is my current favorite!
Whole3o + Keto Sesame Chicken Green Bean Stir Fry Ingredients
The stir fry is chicken thighs, onions, mushrooms, green beans and my beloved stir fry sauce.
I top it all with sesame seeds, serve it over cauliflower rice, and dinner is served!
How To Make
I find my stir fry turns out best when I cook each ingredient in batches. This way the chicken and vegetables gets a chance to caramelize, giving it tons of flavor. It takes a little bit longer, but well worth it.
If you were to cook it all at once in the same skillet, the meat and vegetables just steam, and often come out rubbery.
It’s delicious topped with sesame seeds.
The sesame seeds give it a beautiful crunch and texture, and that delicious asian flavor.
Serving
This is perfect served with cauliflower rice! If you’re new here, you’ve got to check out my cauliflower rice hack using frozen cauliflower. So easy and best tasting EVER!
Meal Prep
This recipe is perfect for meal prep! It will last in the fridge for 5 days, or in the freezer for 6 months.

Whole30 + Keto Sesame Chicken + Green Bean Stir Fry
Ingredients
Stir Fry Sauce:
- 1/2 cup coconut aminos
- 1/2 cup chicken broth
- 1 teaspoon arrowroot powder
- 1 tablespoon date paste, omit for keto, or honey if not doing Whole30
- 1 teaspoon sesame seed oil
- 1 teaspoon rice vinegar
- 2 inch piece of ginger, peeled and grated or finely minced
- 2 garlic cloves, grated or finely minced
Stir Fry:
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- salt + pepper
- 1 medium yellow onion, sliced
- 1 pound mushrooms, sliced
- 1 pound skinless, boneless chicken thighs cut into 1 inch pieces (I get my chicken from ButcherBox, which I highly recommend)
- 1 pound green beans, ends trimmed
- 1 cup stir fry sauce, or more if desired
- 2 tablespoons sesame seeds
- Cauliflower rice for serving
Instructions
Stir Fry Sauce
- Combine all stir fry sauce ingredients and whisk to combine. Set aside.
Stir Fry
- Heat a large skillet or cast iron skillet over medium high heat. Add 1 tablespoon olive oil and the chicken thighs. Season with a pinch of salt and pepper. Cook the chicken thighs until golden brown, about 5 minutes, stirring occasionally. Transfer to a large mixing bowl.
- In the same pan, cook the yellow onion, seasoned with a pinch of salt and pepper. Cook until soft, about 5 minutes, stirring occasionally. Transfer to the same large mixing bowl.
- In the same pan, cook the mushrooms, seasoned with a pinch of salt and pepper. Cook until soft, about 5 minutes, stirring occasionally. Transfer to the same large mixing bowl.
- In the same pan, cook the green beans, seasoned with a pinch of salt and pepper. Cook until soft, about 5 minutes, stirring occasionally. Transfer to the same large mixing bowl.
- Add the chicken, onions and mushrooms back to the skillet with the green beans, along with 1 cup of the stir fry sauce. Cook for another 3 minutes to reheat all the vegetables and to allow the sauce to heat thru and thicken, tossing as it cooks so all the vegetables get coated in the stir fry sauce.
- Top with sesame seeds and serve warm with cauliflower rice.
- Leftovers will keep refrigerated in an airtight container for 5 days.

I made the tonight and it was so delicious! My family loved it so much. Â I will definitely be making it again!
So pleased your family liked this!
Hi! This tastes great, but I have a question about carbs! I made this when I saw it was advertised as keto, but it has 36.5g total carbohydrate! Is that per serving?Â
Allison – if you eliminate the date paste it greatly reduces the total carbs. So happy you liked this.
We just had this for dinner and it was a huge hit! We served with basmati rice as we aren’t  restricting grains. Only adjustment for next time will be less salt and low sodium soy sauce. It was pretty salty for our taste. Going in our rotation for sure!Â
Hi Elizabeth,
I am so happy that my Sesame Chicken Green Bean Stir Fry has made it into your recipe rotation! I think it would be delicious over basmati rice. I appreciate your suggestions on the saltiness.
What kind of stir fry sauce do you use/recommend??
Omg ignore my silly question! I was not thinking when I wrote that! ?
Haha! Glad you figured it out!
My homemade one! https://www.tasteslovely.com/the-best-paleo-whole30-stir-fry-sauce/
Best stir fry and sauce I’ve ever had. Thanks for the tip of cooking the vegetables individually, browning them separately really takes it to another level. The sauce is simple but rich and on point. Definitely going to make this a regular.
I’m so happy to hear that Natasha! The vegetables turn out much better when cooked separately. They’re able to get a little more caramelized. Yum! Thanks for letting me know you liked my recipe, you made my day!
I only just discovered this recipe and I’ve cooked it three times in eight days. My wife loves it as well. I actually marinated the chicken in the stir-fry sauce for about 90-120 minutes prior to cooking and the flavours are outstanding (I doubled the ingredients of the sauce to cover all the chicken). I’ve also added baby corns and snow peas for a bit of crunch. Delicious!!
Well you just made my DAY! I’m so glad you like my recipe! I love your idea of marinating the chicken in the stir fry sauce. I am going to try that next time. Yum!
I love this sauce so much!! The only thing I changed was I added a few shakes of ground ginger since I didn’t have fresh and I added a few pinches of red pepper flakes. And it’s great that you can adapt this recipe to anything you have on hand. I used turkey, snow peas and mushrooms. Yum!
I’m so glad you liked it! I’ve used ground ginger in a pinch too, and it works great! Thanks for letting me know you liked my recipe!
super good :) highly recommend for big events – you can just double all the measurements without issue
This was really great and very simple!
I’m going to make this tonight! It looks so good and all the reviews are positive! I don’t have corn start so I’m going to use a little bit of flour to thicken it I hope it doesn’t ruin it LOL
Ground arrow root works well too!
Yes! It does!
Just made this tonight–it was hit with everyone (and I have 6 kids–even my pickiest eater liked it). I did make a few changes–first, I chopped the onions and mushrooms before I sauteed them to make it more kid friendly–then I added some red pepper flakes, a little fish sauce, and some sweet chili sauce to the stir fry sauce. I also used the really tender French green beans from Costco–so delicious! Thanks for the recipe!
I am so glad everyone liked it. And holy moly 6 kids! You are my new hero! I have one little baby and am bowing down to you! I love all the changes you made. And I get those french green beans at Costco too! My favorite! So thin and delicate. Thanks for taking the time to let me know you liked my recipe Marnae! Made my day!
I want to double this and take it to a friend who is having a hysterectomy. Id like her to be able to pop it in the freezer if she doesn’t need it right away–do you think I ought to go ahead and cook it (or maybe mostly cook?) and give instructions to just thaw and re-heat on the stove top?
That would be so sweet of you Sarah! So I’ve never frozen this, but I imagine it should work. The green beans probably won’t have that “crisp tender” crunch that I like, but will still be healthy and delicious. I might under cook the green beans. Then she can freeze it all together, thaw it, and throw it all in a skillet and reheat on the stove top. She would just have to cook the rice fresh the night she’s going to eat it. Hope your friends surgery goes well. She’s going to really appreciate this healthy and flavorful dinner.
Amazing sauce–this is great stir fry. We used coconut oil and it was great.
I’m so happy to hear that! Thanks for letting me know. This stir fry sauce is just the best. And good idea to use coconut oil! I’ve recently discovered coconut oil, and now I use it in place of almost everything. Such great flavor : )
Made this for dinner last night for the boyfriend and I. It was sooo good. :) Thank you so much for the recipe! (I didn’t add mushrooms to it though, just because neither of us like the taste of mushrooms.)
I am so happy to hear that! It’s one of my favorite quick weeknight meals. Thank you for letting me know you liked my recipe Wendy! You just made my day. *virtual hugs!*
I absolutely love how this dish looks like. I started my prep work and will be making your dish for dinner tonight. Thank you very much for sharing a healthy and quick meal for us moms.
Well you just made my day Rose! This is one of my favorite dinners to make. It’s so healthy and yummy, and comes together quickly. I hope your family loves it! Have a great rest of your night! Virtual hugs to you my friend : )
Making this for dinner this week!! It look so delicious, so healthy, and I love how easy it is!! Such a great recipe!
love all of those beans and sesame flavors!
This is the best idea EVER! Why did I never think to make green beans the star of a stir fry before? This is just perfect and I love all of the additional ingredients! So fun! Thanks so much for sharing, Natalie, and I hope you had a wonderful weekend! Pinned!
My wife LOVES stir fries. She always gets so excited when she comes home and it’s stir fry night for dinner. I’m thinking I need to surprise her with this recipe this week!
You sound like a wonderful husband…just like mine. We cook for each other and I absolutely love it when he cooks for me. Take care.
Glad you have such a great husband! So nice when they cook!
I really need to try this! What a great way to get a bunch of veggies in for dinner.
