Paleo + Whole30 Taco Seasoning
Homemade Paleo + Whole30 Taco Seasoning – a blend of spices to create a sugar free taco seasoning! Gluten free, grain free, keto, dairy free, clean eating, real food.
Why Organic Spices Are Best
Making your own taco seasoning is so simple to do! No need to use the store bought packets that are filled with sugar, preservatives, and the sneaky “natural flavors” I try to avoid.
By using organic spices it is much healthier for you. Organic spices are pasteurized via steam to kill any bacteria, therefore they are safest to eat and 100% nontoxic. Spices that are not organic are pasteurized with chemicals and ethylene oxide gas that remains in the spices. You don’t want to be ingesting that.
Instead, make taco seasoning at home with 6 simple organic spices! Then your taco seasoning will be toxic free, keto, paleo + whole30 compliant!
Spices in Homemade Taco Seasoning
To make your own taco seasoning is so very simple. You just need:
-
- organic chili powder (this is a link to a Whole30 approved chili powder! Read your labels. Most have rice concentrate in it which is not Whole30. Silicone dioxide is ok!)
- organic cumin
- organic garlic powder
- organic oregano
- organic kosher salt
- organic smoked paprika
All seasonings I bet you have in your spice cabinet right now.
Serving Size for Homemade Taco Seasoning
2 tablespoons of this homemade taco seasoning is the equivalent of those Mexican taco seasonings packets you can buy in the store.
For 1 pound of beef or chicken, you’ll ad 2 tablespoons of taco seasoning. It’s delicious on vegetables too!
How Long Does Homemade Taco Seasoning Last?
Spices last a long time! Your taco seasoning will last for at least 4 years. But you’ll definitely use it all up before then because it is so good.
To keep it the freshest, store in an airtight container. I love using my 4 ounce mason jars, it’s the perfect size for the amount of seasoning this makes!

This recipe is perfect! If I can’t find smoked paprika, I’ve substituted with chipotle – adds a tiny bit of warmth and just the right zing!
I am so glad you liked my taco seasoning MamaVerse! I love that you substituted chipotle for the smoked paprika. These days we are all having to make do with what we have at home. So glad it turned out well for you!
Do you add water to the seasoning? Â If yes, how much?
Sooo much better than store bought! And I’m thankful for your note about chili powder, I honestly never thought to look at ingredients 🥴Â

Soooooooooooooo good. I can’t believe I used to use package taco seasoning when this was so easy. I had all the ingredients in my spice rack and it took 5 minutes. Thanks Natalie *again*!
I am so glad you liked my taco seasoning Nancy. Isn’t it amazing how we just get in the habit of buying something when we can make it ourselves? It’s usually better for you, healthier, less expensive, plus it’s a lot of fun! So happy you enjoyed it.
